Semi-Truck Rear-Ends Ohio School Bus, Killing 6 and Injuring 18
A semi-truck rear-ended a school bus in Ohio, killing 6 and injuring another 18 people. According to officials, there were five vehicles involved in the deadly crash.
A charter bus filled with students from a Tuscarawas Valley school district in Eastern Ohio was hit by the truck. Three passengers were pronounced dead, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. They were identified as John Mosely, 18; Jeffery Worrell, 18 and Katelyn Owens, 15.
An additional 15 students and the bus driver were transported to a local hospital, and other students who were not injured were taken to a reunification site to be picked up by their families.
Three people in one of the other vehicles involved in the accident were killed as well. These people were identified as Dave Kennat, 56; Kristy Gaynor, 39; and Shannon Wigfield, 45. All of the people who died and were injured were from Ohio.
The driver of the big rig was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the accident is under investigation.
