Semi-truck overturns onto Pickup in Anaheim near Disneyland
Multiple people had to be rescued on Thursday after a semi-truck overturned onto a smaller truck on the 57 Freeway in Anaheim, California, killing one person.
The incident happened at around 8:30 p.m., when the semi-truck driver lost control for unknown reasons, causing the vehicle to overturn and land on top of the Chevrolet truck. The Chevrolet truck was traveling in the northbound lanes of the freeway, near the interchange with State Route 91, according to available information.
Emergency personnel responded to the scene and extricated three people from the Chevrolet truck. One of the occupants, a male in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other two occupants, a woman in her 30s and a child under the age of 10 were transported to a nearby hospital with minor injuries, according to available information.
The identity of the deceased victim has not yet been released. The semi-truck driver was not injured in the accident.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is investigating the cause of the accident. As of this writing, it is unclear if speed, impairment, or distracted driving played a role in the crash.
