Semi Strikes Vehicle Head-On, Killing Two in Ohio
Two people were killed in a fiery head-on collision involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 79 in Ohio Township early Thursday morning, state police said.
The crash happened shortly before 12:30 a.m. in a construction zone in the northbound lanes of I-79, near mile marker 67. A tractor-trailer traveling south crossed the median and struck a car head-on, pushing both vehicles into an embankment. The trailer of the tractor-trailer then struck a second car traveling north, according to available information.
Both vehicles involved in the head-on collision burst into flames, and the drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene. Other occupants in the crash were treated by medics and taken to local hospitals for their injuries, according to available information.
“Truck and bus accidents are different from “regular” car accidents,” explains Jim Scherr, a Texas truck accident attorney. “The injuries and damages are often much more severe. Truck weighing up to 80,000 pounds and commercial bus accidents may involve multiple liable parties, multiple injuries, and legal duties owed by commercial drivers and motor carriers who must comply at all times with the regulatory framework is significantly more compelling.”
