Pickup Truck Wedged Beneath Big Rig Cargo in Louisiana, Injuring One

February 12, 2024 Firm News

The morning of January 26, 2024, in Caddo Parish, Louisiana closed Highway 1, the driver of a pickup truck was injured when his pick up became wedged beneath the cargo trailer bed of a semi truck. The driver of the big rig received a citation for failing to yield, according to the Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputies.

Sheriff Deputies had to employ the jaws of life to extricate the driver from the vehicle. The driver of the pickup truck sustained injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Semi Truck drivers must be trained and taught to plan movement of their truck, and warn on coming traffic with signals and signs.  Trailers must be designed safely with underride protection that prevents cars and pickups from submarining the trailer, otherwise severe injuries and death can occur.
