Oregon Man Dies in Fatal Tractor-Trailer Crash
An Oregon man lost his life on March 11, 2024 following a collision between the pickup truck he was driving and a semi truck’s trailer in rural Klamath County, as reported by the Oregon State Police.
The incident occurred around 7:50 p.m. on Highway 58 near milepost 68, just south of Odell Lake. OSP responded to the crash scene.
The victim, identified as Michael Davis, 57, a fitness center owner from Dallas, Oregon, was driving his pickup truck when the tractor-trailer went out of control, resulting in the fatal collision, according to officials.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 28-year-old driver from Liberty Lake, Washington, was operating a Kenworth truck and trailer heading eastbound on the highway. The trailer veered into the westbound lane, leading to the collision with Davis’s Toyota Tacoma.
The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries, while David was killed and a 53-year-old passenger in Davis’s pickup also suffered minor injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Following the accident, the highway remained closed in both directions for approximately seven hours to facilitate investigation and cleanup.
Michael Davis owned the Anytime Fitness location situated at 740 Main St. in Dallas, Oregon.
This unfortunate incident underscores the perils associated with commercial truck accidents and serves as a poignant reminder of the criticality of safe driving practices. Unsafe driving, failing to control the vehicle, distractions, or fatigue among commercial truck drivers can jeopardize lives
Victims of truck collisions should seek competent, experienced truck accident attorneys early on, to preserve the evidence, obtain download of the black box on the truck and on board video, and witness accounts, and to insure the victims rights are protected.
