Who Can Be Held Liable After a Fatal FedEx Truck Crash in Heber City, UT?
A FedEx driver, the driver’s employer or contractor, another motorist, or more than one party may be held liable after a fatal FedEx truck crash in Heber City. Who is responsible will depend on what caused the collision and the actions of those involved.
When investigators review a commercial truck crash, they may consider each driver’s actions leading up to the collision. Details such as speed, traffic violations, and driver attention can help show who may be responsible.
If the FedEx driver was working at the time, the company or contractor responsible for the driver may also be liable. The driver’s employment relationship and the circumstances of the trip can help determine whether another party may share responsibility.
As the investigation continues, records connected to the truck may provide more details about what happened. Driver logs, maintenance and inspection records, and electronic vehicle data may show how the truck was being operated before the collision.
When someone dies because of another person’s negligence in Utah, certain family members may be able to file a wrongful death claim. In some cases, a personal representative may also file a claim for the family.
Depending on the circumstances, a wrongful death claim may seek compensation for funeral expenses, lost financial support, and the loss of the relationship with the person who died. The compensation available will depend on the losses caused by the death and the facts of the case.
