A tragic collision involving 10 semi-trucks resulted in a fatality on the Emlenton High-Level Bridge in Clarion County, Pennsylvania, prompting the closure of Interstate 80. The crash occurred around 12:30 a.m. on March 19, 2024 in the westbound lanes of the interstate. Pennsylvania State Police confirmed the severity of the crash, labeling it as fatal.

The Clarion County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as a 35-year-old truck driver from Queens, New York. Eight others sustained injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment. The interstate was closed for several hours.

According to the coroner’s office, the deceased truck driver was ejected from his vehicle and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The Emlenton Fire Department reported that the collision involved over 20 vehicles, comprising both trucks and passenger vehicles.

The Emlenton Bridge, which spans the Allegheny River and lies at the boundaries of Butler, Clarion, and Venango counties, stands as Pennsylvania’s tallest bridge, towering over 270 feet high. The closure of Interstate 80 stretched from Exit 42 near the Emlenton Travel Plaza to Exit 53 near the Wolfs Camping Resort, as confirmed by PennDOT.
