Minnesota Big Rig Truck Accident Fatal for Two
On Saturday evening, a tragic accident shut down a section of Interstate 94 near St. Michael, Minnesota. Around 4:49 p.m., a westbound Freightliner semi-truck lost two tires. One of the tires went flying across the highway and struck an eastbound Nissan Rogue SUV head-on, according to available information.
The SUV was carrying five people, including Viengkhone Nguyen, 44, of Brooklyn Park, and Lea Khamphachanh, 43, of St. Cloud. Nguyen and Khamphachanh were pronounced dead at the scene. The other three passengers in the SUV sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported to North Memorial Hospital for treatment, according to available information.
The 37-year-old semi-truck driver from Savage, Minnesota, was not injured in the crash. Investigation and evidence are necessary to find who or what was at fault in causing the death resulting from a commercial motor vehicle losing 2 tires
