Mass Mississippi Crash

At 6:30 a.m. on February 21, 202, a multi-vehicle crash occurred in the westbound lanes of Highway 84near the intersection of U.S. 84 and Ben Pitts Road in Laurel, Mississippi. Approximately 20 vehicles were involved, including an overturned logging truck that spilled its cargo onto the highway. It was reported that  21 individuals sustained injuries. Ten people went to the hospital for injuries. 

In inclement weather such as fog, commercial truck drivers must exercise extreme caution, decreasing their speed, increasing following distances, and maintain heightened awareness to prevent collisions with their vehicles that can weigh up to 80,000 pounds.  Additionally loads must be properly and safely secured, as collisions are foreseeable.  From the information provided, the commercial motor vehicles did not follow basic safety rules of the road.. The incident on Highway 84 serves as a stark reminder of the importance of exercising additional care in adverse weather conditions.
