FedEx Truck Kills North Carolina Woman

December 11, 2023 Firm News

A FedEx Truck hit and killed a pedestrian, an 83-year-old North Carolina woman on December 5, 2023, in Gastonia, North Carolina. Kay Andrews, of Gastonia, was hit shortly before 4 p.m. on Brownstone Court and taken to CaroMont Regional Hospital where she died

The Gastonia Police Department is currently investigating what led to a FedEx driver failing to keep a safe lookout and hit an open and obvious pedestrian. Neighbors who knew Kay Andrews reported that she took walks along that route regularly.

Was it distracted driving?  Was it an obstruction to visibility?  Was it an unsafe truck driver? Commercial trucks, including those operated under the FedEx business model, can pose deadly hazards to the motoring public. In tragedies like the death of Kay Andrews, these and other questions need answers to explain the tragic death of a respected senior citizen, and prevent future incidents.
