What Compensation Can Families Recover After a Fatal FedEx Truck Crash in Temecula, CA?

After a fatal FedEx truck crash in Temecula, families may recover compensation for lost financial support, funeral and burial costs, lost household services, and the loss of companionship.

Under California law, a surviving spouse, domestic partner, children, and certain other eligible relatives may be able to file a wrongful death claim. A personal representative may also bring the claim on behalf of eligible family members.

To support the claim, families may need records showing the financial support and household contributions their loved one provided. Pay stubs, tax returns, employment records, and evidence of services performed at home may help document these losses.

The estate may also have a separate survival claim for losses that occurred before the person died. Depending on the circumstances, this may include medical bills, lost income, or property damage. These losses are separate from the compensation family members may seek through a wrongful death claim.

In Temecula and throughout California, a wrongful death lawsuit generally must be filed within two years of the date of death. Missing this deadline may prevent eligible family members from pursuing compensation through a lawsuit.
