Jim Scherr Heads Up Hilton Doubletree Hotel Project

Construction progresses on time for the DoubleTree Hilton Hotel in downtown El Paso, a project of developer and attorney James Scherr. This article shares the moment when the name of the hotel was put into place. The Doubletree Hotel project marked one of the more ambitious projects that Scherr took on.

Scherr’s development group purchased the property in downtown El Paso in 2004. In a press release, Scherr was quoted saying “We look forward to bringing Southwestern hospitality back to Downtown El Paso through an upscale, full-service hotel that will exemplify the rising quality of life in the greater El Paso area.” “As part of the Hilton Family of Hotels, the Doubletree will be supported by a powerful worldwide sales and marketing infrastructure, including Hilton Honors(R), and global sales and reservations offices benefiting customers and contributing to the long-term success of the hotel,” he explained.
